Flight of Imagination Feb 26 - Mar 29 @ Cypress Art Gallery
The Lompoc Valley Art Association presents its first community-wide exhibition of the year, a marvelous show called “The Art of Renewal,” on view at the Cypress Gallery through February. Showcasing art made from recycled materials, it is indeed full of marvels, with transformations wonderful to behold. Using the most humble of materials – trash – our artists have made works of art that delight and challenge the viewer into new ways of seeing and thinking. Art proves once again that there is no limit to the creative mind.
All artists participating must live/work in the Santa Barbara County.
Each artist may include up to three pieces in the show.
70% must be recycled, reused or repurposed materials
As we step into a new year, Simple Pleasures invites visitors to pause and honor the small, everyday joys that bring comfort and balance. Think of the moments that make you feel cozy at home, the objects or actions that spark quiet delight for no reason other than it feels good to feel good - morning light on the kitchen table, the rhythm of a familiar walk, the texture of well-loved tools.
Joellen’s reception will be held on November 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please join us, enjoy a snack, and meet Joellen; we welcome your questions.
The Cypress Gallery featured artist will be Joellen Chrones, “Hot Glass and Warm Fuzzies.” The show will be from October 27 to November 23.

All artists participating must live/work in the Santa Barbara County.
Each artist may include up to three pieces in the show.
All pieces must be 12"x12" inches in size, no larger no smaller. The distance from the wall can be up to 5". All pieces must be ready to hang, with hanging hardware attached.
The size of the piece includes any frame or hanging hardware.
If it’s in a frame the outside edges of the frame should be 12“ x 12“ exactly.
If it’s not in a frame the outside edges of the piece should be 12“ x 12“ exactly.
5” deep is the maximum depth but not a required depth. The piece can be flat.
No glass please. Plexiglass or other nonbreakable materials are fine if work is framed.
What hanging hardware is required? All pieces must be ready to hang with a gallery wire. "Ready to hang" means each piece should sit flush to the wall and not require adjustments by the show crew beyond placing the piece on a nail.
What does "local" mean? If you want to get specific, we are emphasizing artists in Santa Barbara County at this time. You must drop off and pick up your work yourself. And hopefully, attend the party!
All pieces should be dry.
No print reproductions (such as giclee). No AI software created works. Failure to do so may result in being excluded from this and future shows with the LVAA.

The artwork of Kristine Kelly, our featured artist at the Cypress Gallery this month, brings both those states of weather and feeling to her show “Painting with Glass.” Kelly is a painter, who uses the unique medium of glass.
Kelly began her art adventure in glass art thirty years ago, making fused glass jewelry and decorative pieces formed in molds. Once she discovered the art of landscape painting using kiln-fired glass, there was no turning back. Her work exploits the colors, opalescence, and translucence of glass.
Glass as a medium brings the outside world into the the work of art. Reflections, transparency, and even the movement of the viewer will effect it. In “Spring at Jalama,” light flickers and glides across the surface, catching in highlights on the clouds. The viewer can peer into many of the pieces, as into a tide pool. In “Fields of Gold” this effect is enthralling. You are in the artist’s world.
Kelly creates environments of heightened sensitivity. She has the ability to give the viewer a feeling of distance using opaque glass, or a feeling of nearness through the use of tactile three-dimensional glass. This show is a pleasure for the senses, full of beautiful things to inspire you. It is up through May 25.
