The Lompoc Valley Art Association’s Cypress Gallery will be featuring “Between Here and There”, an artist show by Mikel Naccarato. The show will be on exhibit from August 27 to September 29, 2019.
Mikel Naccarato is an artist from California's Central Coast. His show, “Between Here and There” is a collection of his vibrant paintings of the Central Coast and the Big Island of Hawaii. His works include 10”x10” landscapes, abstracted landscapes and pure abstracts examining the Circle as Symbol.
Mikel has been painting professionally for thirty years. He has traveled throughout the United States exhibiting at juried art shows where buyers purchased his art-work for their retail stores. An installation of six of his large abstract paintings were commissioned by Morgan Stanley headquarters in Manhattan, New York. Mikel also sold his art at the long-standing, Sunday Santa Barbara Arts and Craft Show.
"Art was a refuge for me as I was growing up. During weekly trips to the library, I discovered art and the paintings of famous artists. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci were Italian as I am and, I think that, in a way, they became surrogates for me. I have had the pleasure of studying with several renowned Santa Barbara artists including Dr. Louis Taylor, Richard Phipps and Marcia Burtt. They gave me the courage to keep learning and growing as an artist.
I would advise an aspiring artist to just paint. Get the tools of art in your hands, learn techniques, understand value relationships but mostly, just paint.”
There will be a will be an artist’s reception on Saturday August 31 from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. Refreshments will be served. Please come by and check out the show. The Cypress Gallery is at 119 East Cypress Avenue, Lompoc, across from the Museum.
